Bumps, Bends, Mixed Up Plans

"A wizard does not make mistakes. He makes unexpected possibilities." – Merlin

Chapter 19 in which we start this blog

July 2022

From now on we do not make stupid jokes about vampires in Transylvania. We are dead serious! See for yourself. Who would make a door on the upper floor with no stairs? There are no stairs inside of the house either (and no way to the upper floor at all). And why would you make a full length window on the upper floor? And why would you always answer text messages not earlier than 6pm, like our hosts did?

Vampires or not, Brasov is an adorable city, and it became the birthplace of our blog. We rented a small apartment with a cosy backyard and started to write about our adventures and misadventures.

We settled in the old part of the city (and we highly recommend you to do so if you come to Brasov). Although Brasov is quite a big city, the old part is more like a village. We had two roosters as our neighbours. Though we had never seen them, we could hear them a lot. They used to crow day and night. But heavy is the head that wears the comb. While one of the roosters definitely had a positive attitude, the other one was singing a very sad song on a minor scale. Ksenia was even thinking of offering psychological help, but could not figure out what exactly she could do.

She had a chat with her friend, and they decided it would make a good plot for a movie. You can choose between a British drama or a Hollywood romantic comedy. The British version could feature Benedict Cumberbatch in a long black coat, an established psychologist who comes to a small village to deal with an emotional crisis and slowly heals by establishing an unexpected bond with a depressed rooster. In the Hollywood adaptation Margot Robbie, a fresh uni graduate with a major in psychology unwillingly comes to a village to deal with family matters. A neighbour challenges her to cure his depressed rooster, whose crow is annoyingly sad. In the final scene the young psychologist and the farmer kiss and the rooster crows happily and approvingly.

OK, where were we?.. Oh yes, in Brasov! We have spent two weeks there mainly brasoving around and relaxing. We visited two more castles and the scenic Transfagarasan road, but Brasov itself has a lot to offer.
